collection instructions
Collect a small amount of stool from multiple areas of a single bowel movement.
Use the wooden applicator provided to obtain the sample and apply it to the FOBT card.
Ensure proper labeling of the FOBT card with at least two patient identifiers.
Transport the specimen to the laboratory as soon as possible after collection.
If transportation is delayed, store the specimen at room temperature or refrigerate according to laboratory instructions.

The Fecal Occult Blood Test detects the presence of hidden (occult) blood in the stool, which can indicate bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract.
