Collect urine in a clean, sterile container.
For best results, use the first-morning urine specimen which is more concentrated.
Label the container with at least two patient identifiers.
Transport the specimen at room temperature to the laboratory within 1-2 hours of collection.

clinical significance
The hCG Urine Test detects the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone produced by the placenta during pregnancy. It is used to confirm pregnancy and monitor early stages of pregnancy. This test is also employed in evaluating suspected ectopic pregnancy or monitoring certain tumors that produce hCG.
