clinical significance

The Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) test measures the average blood glucose level over the past 2-3 months. It is used to assess long-term glycemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus. Higher HbA1c levels indicate poorer blood glucose control, which may increase the risk of diabetes-related complications such as cardiovascular disease, neuropathy, and nephropathy. This test is essential for monitoring diabetes management and adjusting treatment plans.
